I consider this like having a good pen light. It's bright and effective if you use it correctly. At a distance it can be difficult to see much due to the small beam but does help, likely you need to move it back and forth to get a good view at a distance. That said if it's off target even a little it won't work. And you don't get much perspective. The oddities in the image are part and parcel of DIY. Sometimes it works great, others not so much.

You ask the consultant to help you with a particular problem. That is like having someone come and put in path lighting. For one particular path it's clear, you are free to look around, you don't have to carry anything, just follow the path. But stepping off the path maybe problematic.
